In 2008 Cory set up First Aid Academy in the Lancashire area and won the ‘New Business of the Year 2008 Award’. The awards recognise exceptional achievements by businesses and their employees in Lancashire. In 2010 the company ran nearly 250 first aid training courses.
With a move to Scotland in 2011 Cory set up Outdoor First Aid Limited as a Scottish based training consultancy.
Outdoor First Aid Limited is a Scottish based first aid training business. We run quality first aid training (see below) including First Aid at Work courses. Our first aid training courses are well respected and the trainers we use are highly skilled and annually evaluated to remain part of our training team. First Aid courses are interactive and developed to give participants greater confidence when dealing with first aid accident sand incidents.
Cory is also one of the founder members of First Aid Training Co-operative.
Cory has a host of outdoor qualifications including International Mountain Leader Award, Single Pitch Award and MBLA Trail Cycle Leader Award. He is a member of the Mountain Leader Training Association. Recently Cory has turned his hand to sea kayaking and is now a BCU/SCA 4* Sea Kayak Leader. Cory is a qualified teacher and has a master’s degree in Environmental Management. Cory has successfully attended the Wild Scotland Wilderness Guide Training Programme.
Cory is a trained ecologist and has run bird watching tours for Field Studies Council & HF Holidays. He has worked for the RSPB as both Education Officer and Reserve Officer, and used to be Centre Manager at Malham Tarn Field Centre, a residential outdoor centre in the Yorkshire Dales.
As manager of the Lake District National Park Education Service he organised and helped deliver courses to 6,500 children a year. Cory was also involved in raising up to £4,000,000 per year to support around 100 project officers as Deputy Director of Sheffield Wildlife Trust.
Since 2001 Cory has guided across the globe for a number of UK based expedition companies including KE Adventure, Mountain Kingdoms and Wilderness Expertise.
Cory has a passion for travel in, and on, the big mountain ranges of the world. He has experience of expedition leading in Pakistan, Ladakh, Nepal, Patagonia, the Middle East and Africa. Over the winter 2009/10 Cory led a three man team which successfully crossed the Southern Patagonian Ice Cap, a place reputed to have the worst weather in the world!
